Preparing For University

The sun popped out from behind a daunting cloud and the weather had turned into a pleasant surprise. It had been raining all summer long, from July to September; the sky stayed grim and threatening so today was a turn up for the books. The lovely weather prompted me to get my self into gear and pick up some vital items for my forth coming move to university so I decided to make the short walk to Argos, I had photos to print, kitchen utensils to buy and plenty more run of the mill items. As I got to the till I saw a few magazines out on display and felt like treating myself to a bit of gossip to read through in the sunshine.

The front headlines consisted of ‘Wayne Rooney cheats on Coleen with prostitute’ I can’t say I was surprised, the other week Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy were on the rocks. Recently there seems to have been a surge in cheating footballers and therefore distraught WAG’s. A week begins with Chelsea player Ashley Cole’s divorce from Cheryl and is followed on by yet another cheated wife, as it emerges Wayne Rooney has ‘done the dirty’ on Coleen Rooney.

I’m sure many people can’t help but feel sorry for some of these ‘Wives and Girlfriends’, although everyone is well aware most would be nothing without marrying into the rich footballer type, they’re people too. More respect goes out to those partners that do something with their status and make something of themselves like Coleen Rooney has done. Mrs Rooney has made her own stardom with a hit ITV series ‘Coleen’s Real Women’; she has also won a number of style awards, released a perfume, exercise DVDs and an autobiography. To top it off in June this year she signed a deal at Littlewoods to head their ‘Nice Boots Campaign’, as the face of the promotion she stars in Littlewoods television adverts and mans the website as their named ‘Style Editor’. Many shops and businesses now use celebrities to front advertisements as it is such a common way of grabbing the audience’s attention in this modern day, many other WAG’s have done similar things as Coleen, for example Victoria Beckham took part in a campaign for Tesco in 2007.
